Maybe you should read more of my MAE posts.... Who was right?
Called it a dog for years..
Vodafone is not a dog. Just understand this share very well. It has the potential to make and lose money.
The illiquidity of HTA means just a small amount of hype could push the share price up considerably. Maybe even to totally stupid levels.. If somebody wants to buy Vodafone it could send the share price up hugely.
But you will need to jump off early, because there is a massive risk, that the sale price will not cover the $7b loan and when the deal is done shareholders of HTA will probably be screwed.
On the surface HTA looks like a great way in to a growth sector at a low price.
You need to understand the consequences of a massive debt burden.
Vodafone have also not participated in the 4g spectrum auction which will have massive network speed consequences in a few years from now.
There increased network spending and improved customer service has been very positive.
Increased depreciation of assets are now considerably higher, causing more financial pain..
Optus's brainless management selling on price is hurting margins for all carriers, and putting additional, pressure on Voda.
Losses increased in the last financials, and from what I can see losses will continue, when their next figures are released.
Vodafone has indicated that they are interested in entering the fixed line market in the future. When questioned about TPG they were mute... It would appear to me that Vodafone maybe better off buying straight from NBNCo to launch their fixed line business rather than a merger. If there is a merger/takeover between TPG and Voda
Voda will need to wipe out a massive amount of debt to make the merger /takeover attractive.
Something so far they seem to have avoided
It's an interesting share. Way overpriced on fundamentals, but has the potential to be a 10 bagger on hype, or be worth zero at some point. Way too scary for me, but interesting to watch.
