Bad timing, but never good at any time really. Delta, hang in there. A cliche, but worth noting. Many of us find our roles are made redundant and we wonder "why me?" If done correctly it is the role, and should have nothing to do with your own abilities. Business has Financial goals and as we all know, it's the employees who get hit first as headcount targets are lowered and outsourcing is often the remedy.
In my 35 years of work, my roles have been made redundant three times, and I have had to deliver the redundancy news to well over 20 people....some who I know were in financial pain at the time, kids at school, high mortgages etc. It is never easy, but there are often bigger brighter lights at the end of the tunnel. As a stop gap, I sincerely hope that you will receive a reasonable redundancy package, at least to cover your years service, X weeks in advance etc. IF not, query it. Make sure your can get a career reference from your employer. Are you being given an opportunity to attend an outplacments service. I know these can be very beneficial.
I, too, have been, in Recruitment. I have large networks in the business world. If you would like to share your industry experience and what you would like to do, I would be happy to help out a fellow HC'er. I don't know if you are Arthur or Martha, but happy to provide some advice if required, build a resume, review your resume, etc. Not sure how private messaging works here on HC, but feel free to make contact with me. Best of luck, keep your spirits and chin up. Go forth......
