Just to correct the record Chill, the Portland project was OPT, not BioWave, different companies with different technology.
I was acutely aware of this because my favourite company missed out on the $66.5 million and I saw the sp head south. Apparently it came down to Martin Ferguson making the call. Yes, the same bloke who is now working for the oil and gas industry.
As far as I am aware, the $66.5 mil has not been reassigned. The government does appear to be looking more favourably toward renewable energy, so the survival of ARENA and CEFC seems more likely now than it did a few months ago.
I would think most renewable energy companies would need to tap into these finance bodies to stand a chance of making it to commercialisation. There is only so much cash that retail shareholders are willing to part with.
What would be encouraging, is if the SPP was to be oversubscribed. I would take that as a healthy sign.
