It depends on their delivery charges, and the online stores often don't have the same breadth and range of items so you end up having to use more than one online store depending on what you want. When you have little babies who need to be fed, changed and sleep/cry often, you value your own time and convenience a bit more. And swinging past a Baby Bunting store on the way home from work to grab a few items, or more leisurely on the weekend, with easy parking and access and baby change rooms is quite useful. We often find that when we are there getting one or two planned items, we end up getting a toy and another item or two as well, so our basket size ends up bigger than we initially intended. At the couple of stores we have been to we also noted that there are plenty of staff to ask for help, but often they are so busy at the checkout counter with people buying things that they are not as accessible as you would like. But this could be a good sign of the sales demand at the stores. The real strength is that despite online competition always being there, Baby Bunting still has their own online store, and retail store fronts which gives people the option to browse in person before buying. The big department stores and smaller specialty baby stores just do not have the range or service to compete and with Mothercare and Baby Warehouse I think was the other one closed, it's almost like they have a clear runway for growth with very limited competition in the omni-channel baby retail space. Also although some people with higher disposable incomes will buy their baby stuff from stores like Seed or Pure Baby and stores like Baby Gallery that stock the more costly and fancy prams like Joolz etc., the Baby Bunting offering caters to the broader demographic. And with experienced retailers at management and board level, that gives greater confidence in the growth path they have described.
