I have personally found stone tools at a dig near the Kalgan, amongst other places.
Those were sent to New Zealand and dated at 28,000 years old.
There are numerous -- thousands in fact, artifacts all around the region including fish traps, tools , lizard/snake traps and boundary markers dating from a couple hundred to tens of thousands of years old.
All very basic technology , it was a land of plenty back then so only basic stuff ever needed be developed.
Do we need the technology these days ?
I say yes for a number of reasons, including keeping the culture alive, to as in a just in case scenario.
Old technology is abundantly useful, both because it works, and because ya never know.

I am enthralled by the Carahunge stones, I would love to be there at the right time to view whatever object in space they look designed to observe.
