Skyfii doesn't need consumers to sign into the wifi system to generate value. Anyone with wifi enabled on their phone will be communicating with the wifi (without connecting) and Skyfii is able track this and construct trend data from it and thus generate value.
Customers (of Skyfii) who want to get the most value out of their investment in Skyfii analytics will offer incentive's to get consumers to sign onto the wifi network. This seems relatively trivial when you put it in the context of loyalty cards and credit cards which are the current form of obtaining personal information on consumers. I would think it would only take a 5-20% discount offer to get a decent sample signed up. Also, once consumers sign into any Skyfii wifi network, they will automatically sign in in all other Skyfii networks when in range (i.e at different retail centers).
Lastly, when a consumer signs up to the wifi network, they enter a 'value exchange'. They receive a more personalised shopping experience in return for the data they provide to Skyfii. The consumers details are not particularly valuable in themselves, but the trend data Skyfii can generate from consumers details is valuable.
