Interesting issue with the need for expansion at Geraldton. GBG from 01-07-2014 to 01-05-15 has shipped some 137 ships or about one ship every 2.2 days. From Geraldton Port releases, the best turnaround was about 30 hour in and out. So GBG could increase shipping through Geraldton. MGX now only shipping limited amount through Geraldton - only 59 ships since 01-07-2014 or one ship every 5.35 days. All other shipping rats and mice. Depends upon rail access.
So possibly plenty of potential to export.
GBG does have a competitor, GRR which exports hematite pellets from Port Latta in northern Tasmania and gets a lot more per tonne, $US78 in last qrtr. But I think GRR % hematite not as good as GBG.
Pellets appear to get better price than fines. So unsure how much GBG gets from Ansteel for hematite per $t. We still do not info on what production costs are.
Don't forget that India, once it gets it port loading facilities up, will import huge amounts of iron ore. Also other ASEAN nations are in need for infrastructure.
So long term GBG has potential. Ansteel I don't think will let it sink - it has invested too much and it needs the hematite.
