Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) has confirmed shallow high grade oxide gold mineralisation at its wholly-owned Viking Gold Project in Western Australia.
Results from composite sampling returned 5 metres at 9.3 grams per tonne gold from 26 metres, 2 metres at 5.7g/t gold from 44 metres and 3 metres at 8.2g/t gold from 40 metres.
Upcoming drilling over the 1.5 kilometre strike length will continue the systematic infill and extensional drill testing of the strike extensive Beaker 2 oxide gold zone with an initial resource estimate anticipated at the completion of this program.
Viking is close to existing under-utilised gold mills and mining infrastructure.
It consists of six granted exploration licences that cover about 550 square kilometres and is located about 30 kilometres southeast of Norseman.
Genesis purchased the Viking Project off AngloGold Ashanti (ASX:AGG) during the March 2014 quarter.
