WHilst the AWB holds a monopoly over exports of wheat there is no incentive for Australian and multinational companies to invest in value adding capability of bulk food commodities so we can look to market beyond farking third world country end using markets. We are stuck in a bulk exporting mindset and it is costing us dearly. No point even looking at forming farmer co-operatives in collective marketing because you'd never get an application to export past AWB's right of veto. Archaeic system for an industry full of farmers who are unwilling to take on the responsibility of marketing! I am free market so either sharpen pencils or leave the industry. Land prices are good so exiting would be a pleasurable experience for many.
