If the diabetes rate has gone from 1.5% of the population to 4% in 30 yrs then that looks like a massive problem and some of the cause is attributable to consumption of drinks containing much more sugar than most people realize. Of course this issue is there with many processed foods as well. If a coffee or tea is served with more than 2 teaspoons of sugar most people would not drink it but many carbonated drinks have up to double that and it doesn't register the same disgust. Coke has a new product that uses a new sweetener that is being released in the next couple of weeks so maybe some consumer's will be enticed back to the brand.
