The main issue for cnx imho is the relatively high co2 footprint of the process including conversion to sng. Nevertheless, I would have thought the first use of coal to go will be the burning of low grade coalf or the purpose of generating electricity. Perhaps ucg will be seen as a transition fuel in the pursuit of reduced co2 emissions.
