Striebs, the Chinese have had a CTG plant for years in Inner Mongolia, it apparently has a bad track record and a number of complains re pollution. It's easily googled.
I suppose it depends on which way one looks at it, but I tend to think this bodes more favourably for UCG and it's more controlled environmental production. . The problem with UCG at the moment is that there is not a fully functioning Modern Commercial Operation. We had hoped the first would be Zhengzhou, but they had their own problems with the CEO being arrested for Corruption and a 90% drop in profits. They are stalling, but it is my 'guess' they do not wish to spend $750+mil on new technology, when they can simply stall and let us proceed in Qld.
Whether it is LNC in Polland (they have their own alleged problems with local authority) or us who are first, I have often stated that an Operational Commercial Project is required so the money men can do the Cost/Profit/Production figures other than on a small scale Demo.
CNX has done the majority of the hard yards, now we await to see if it bears fruit. I just hope the Greens don't get a major play in the next election, because all they may hear is something to do with Coal and the veto it. I would hate to see the QLD evolve into another Gillard style coalition with the Greens to gain power. Once was enough for me.
