Having read comments from Foolscap and others regarding the lack of medical skills in BPO I have done some research to try and assist.
Currently on the board and advisory board there are no less than four doctors, with DR Matt Mesnik in the USA filling the role of Chief Medical Officer who ran one of the biggest clinic networks in the US dealing with the likes of Mayo Clinic and John Hopkins before joining BPO, DR James Campbell who has a history in Biotech, most recently with Gemini Biotech, DR Hans Stampher MB BS WA, who is currently conducting research into Psychophysiology, Brain electrical activity (EEG and evoked potentials) and Cardiac Monitoring at the UWA, and DR Stephen Addis who is currently the Head of Psychiatry at the Fremantle Hospital in WA.
In regards to Steve Pearce, in addition to BPO he is also chairman of the Lion Institute, a medical research company who "employs scientists, clinicians and support staff to conduct first class scientific research into blindness and incorporates one of Australia’s largest ophthalmic practices. The Institute also houses the Lions Eye Bank and the Lions Save Sight Foundation (LSSF)."
By all accounts this looks like a good mix of commercial and medical expertise.
