I had a ranger in California I did one clutch at 120K miles they are a stout little driveline, but the brake pads only lasted 20K miles and 40K miles for rotors . Oil refineries around Martinez have Rangers as hack vehicles on site full time, but use dully F350s or 250s for carrying welders, or as a mechanic truck.
I would say though brakes are the weak link for Rangers, as engine braking is non existant also , as I found coming down each day at end of shift from the geysers mountain each day for Calpine , so maybe ABV is on to something.
