No, we just light up another transmitter. Much easier and quicker than pulling more fibres through. And speeds are increasing all the time, so we can upgrade equipment rather than needing more.
Samsung have just announced achievable (but not commercially available due to standards restrictions) speeds of up to 100Gb/s. Pb/s must be the next target. Even a 100Mb/s was in the land of myths and legends when we started selling internet.
