IMHO SOO is positioned well to benefit from the evolving global trend of governments offering energy rebates for use of alternate energy. I think this would include both retail and commercial business. Solar energy has been around for ages but has never been any good due to the energy conversion factor - but it may still be better than soon to be too expensive coal/oil. What we may find is that with the government focus more money will pour in to assist development - SOLCO have a design team, who, obviously are experienced in solar power, and if they are any good will be dreaming the technicals every night trying to improve efficiency, aligning themselves with research houses in universities and creating new products! I like the global positioning of this company - the announcement today shows penetration with potential! The global trend may eventuate that every new residence is required to install solar power - your roof tiles should be solar cells - not earth tiles! The general consensus is that coal and oil are slowly running out and coking our lungs in the process - the sun will be one main energy source of the future - has to be! All this talk about peak oil? Can and prob will happen overnight when we actually figure out how much oil the middle east actually has. Hence why we are seeing the Uranium revolution. (An interesting side note: notice the difference if u fly Emirates? They get their fuel cheaper than QANTAS so can offer other benefits that other airlines cant - come back from NZ - Emirates plane full - AirNZ plane empty!). The politics of the energy companies and everyone else who has hold of profits from fossil fuels will eventually be overrun by people power who want cleaner energy. And our little SOLCO may just be well positioned for such a future. I don’t see them having any huge research breakthrough yet - but they are positioned to do such if they act on it. They just need to make all the right choices and a bright future awaits if they can leverage their position into hard core profits. And they have been growing, and acquiring other companies. They appear to be cash flow positive and have the last 6 to 8 years getting this way - upside appears good. Solar power can and needs to be used in the third world where fuel sources are limited. Third world is supported mainly by aid - the bigger countries buy and support energy infrastructure for the little ones - but they still have to buy the product - so SOLCO may be well positioned in this market also. Anyway - just a few random thoughts ... just ashame that the sp dropped 10% in the time it took me to write this!
