Rex is today hopping mad that Transport NSW approved a temporary emergency licence for Qantas to fly the Moree route in one day, following the demise of Brindabella. But they took one month to approve Rex's application to fly the Cobar mining route. So Cobar, its miners, and citizens have to drive for three hours to catch a plane to Sydney.
Its all very corrupt. And Qantas smells to high heaven in all this. All the publicity relates to Qantas international and city domestic routes, but the profitable rural routes are where the guns are drawn.
Qantas appears to be absolutely desperate. I think that the formal review later this month will be the trigger for some fearsome dog fights indeed.
