It would appear you may not have researched or quantified what 40% comparison is measured against in the industry ie what is best practice. In fact your post gives no substance or evidence other than saying 40% conversion appears low from your perspective , the information below may surprise you.

After reading the comments related to the effectiveness of the CU2 Oracle to Sequel Server I invested time with the view to gaining a fuller understanding of data migration. I researched data migration products from Microsoft and others. Microsoft have a product called SSMA (Google it) SQL Server Migration Assistant, it does Oracle to SQL and MySQL to SQL Server up-sizing before migration. The interesting thing was that the information provided said that approximately 25% (at best) will be migrated (and this is only the data not the files, forms, coding and other critical developed apps and VBA code) so it's the leading product and only does 25%?

My next call was to the CTO of a medium sized credit union that uses Oracle and asked if this was possible 40% migration of Oracle and MySQL to SQL Server would this be something she would (or others) might consider as an option to go away from the massively expensive Oracle and it's cost to run and manage? Her response was that when she looked at the Microsoft product it only delivered around 20% manually but this was in her eyes still impressive and gave way to consideration to manually complete the remainder of the project as it would save her 2 million dollars per year to be running SQL Server Vs Oracle or MySQL infrastructure.

The CTO expressed the view that an initial release product that currently automatically migrates data to the level stated it follows that further development could well achieve automation of 50 or 60% which would be a deal clincher for her company to migrate from Oracle to SQL.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I found out the above information clearly what CU2 have is unique to the market.

    IMO DYOR
