It is a great company getting no support from successive federal govts. Think about the growers that will suffer.
All the time we import fruit in cans with dubious lead content. (this weeks news..google it)
And the price of tomatoes is IMO an indication of dumping and warranting further investigation.
If the Federal Govt did its job to protect us from products that are below our standards by increasing inspections and testing (at the importers cost) we probably would not need a subsidy.
OK the Govt has set the rules CCL needs to present a profit for us shareholders. Hope you understand that when they start importing Coke from the new plant in Indonesia.
Every Country "gives encouragement" to their manufacturing industry in one way or another we need to do the same just to keep the playing field level.
Remember this was to be a $140m spend.
