Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited (ASX:FSF) has confirmed that Danone has formally began legal proceedings.
The actions by Danone follows a whey protein concentrate precautionary recall by Fonterra in August last year.
Fonterra has been in ongoing commercial talks with Danone and says it is disappointed these have resulted in legal action.
The dairy company says it will work through the detail of Danone’s claims and plans to vigorously defend any proceedings.
