I am a gold member and have restarted flying extensively (resultantly I would have been Platinum early next year or even Dec this year). I experienced an extremely distasteful experience at the hands of a contractor checking in at Brisbane last week. This triggered my first ever complaint. Many have suggested I should simply swing over to the Qantas Club and avoid it all.
Is this the trend within VA to move towards contract staff and away from permanent staff?
Have other HC Gold and Platinum members noticed a slide in attitude and service in recent months? (possibly as the employment mix changes?)
I was contemplating adding VAH as a long-term option but they have been pretty flat for a while and this recent personal experience has certainly generated a Virgin paradigm shift; avid supporter becomes cautious and cynical.
Is there something I am missing? Should I just wait and see if VAH is possibly taken over by an Asian carrier in the upcoming months (and the whole customer service equation re-shifts?)
I have a dozen bookings in the months ahead (from the last sale period) so I'm locked in for a while and maybe I'll eventually get the answers I seek. But talking to others in the Members Lounges I am not the only discontented Virgin frequent flyer.
Are Virgin Gold and Platinum starting to tarnish?
