lng project in queensland, page-7

its not really "on the other hand" these numbers are more ballpark than the numbers being tossed around at the beginning of this thread.

(if Curtis LNG is $1.1b per tonne - then the liquefaction plant is about $10b, and the other $12b-$14b is the upstream work and infrastructure - which seems about right. When they added the second 4.5m tonne train that was estimated to add $6b to the development).

EWC are saying $250 - $300 per annual tonne ex the generators and gas processing. The apache numbers show the projects between 2000 and 2010 came in between $230 to $400 (excluding Snovit)including the generators (not sure about primary processing).

To date they have capitalised $277m on 2m annual tonnes excluding the FEED (which were expensed).

The really surprising thing for me stemming from the Apache study, was not how cheap EWC is, but the how expensive the Australian mega projects are. It is also interesting to hear the derision with which the Australian projects are held in the US - they are seriously "out of the money". For example the Cove Point LNG export project is expected to cost $3.4-$3.8b for a 5.5m tonnes pa plant in the US - ie $600 -$700 per annual tonne.

Perhaps people should be pointing at the Australian majors, and saying "something doesn't add up" and accuse them of siphoning shareholders funds.
