No doubt a little persuasion from the Howard camp ... considering we have a brand new FTA with the US.

I think America is using this debacle as a good excuse to acuse AWB of being guilty and shut them out for long enough to establish their own wheat exports in Iraq (let's not forget America are very good at pursading the Iraqi govt to go through with anything they want considering that they are an occupying force).

I think that America will eventually get to point the finger and accuse guilt with plenty of evidence to back them up, according to what I hear. And, I believe our own government will be pressured to release the monopoly on the wheat market by AWB ... it's stupid to suggest that one wheat exporter is beneficial ... it's like saying Australia should only have one Iron Ore exporter for all the ore producers???? No different an arguement imho.
