There are usually 3 reasons why staff attend at Annual Meetings: 1/ passionate about their Company - as you have indicated; 2/ told to attend - for whatever reason (numbers, ensure passage of resolutions, etc); 3/ major shareholders - therefore, the driving force in the Company (the CEO and MD, are, but not the staff); 4/ nothing better to do - unlikely.
A true measure of interest would be in ascertaining the number of persons in attendance (apart from staff /Directors /Executive Management /staff from Beconwood).
Regarding corporate activity, the following comment comes from JMB's AGM presentation: ..... "Acquisitions will primarily be to fill identified gaps in our business offering and are likely to fall into one or more of the following categories: 1) to fill Content gaps, 2) to fill Geographical gaps, 3) to fill Technology gaps".
This suggests that JMB may well look to acquiring smaller sized players (arguably, those operating elsewhere in the Australian market and supplying the local Telcos.
I doubt, however, that it would be the other way round, as Jamdat, THQ and ZIO are all significantly larger than JMB (in terms of scale, market reach, number of games in use and under development, market cap, and in profitability).
