Virgin Australia’s Holdings Limited (ASX:VAH) Velocity Frequent Flyer chief executive Neil Thompson says the airline is ramping up its loyalty program.
Virgin's Velocity program added about half a million members last year, pushing the total number of members above 3.7 million.
That’s still less than half the size of Qantas' Frequent Flyer scheme.
Mr Thompson says the airline has set a target of 5 million by 2015.
He says the company has to be mindful that there's a balance between the number of members and the number of seats available.
Virgin Australia delivered a net profit of $23 million for the first half of fiscal 2013.
