I don't think this would ever happen - its a matter for the company's accountants / auditors. Given that its in the interests of the ATO for companies to capitalise expenses, its not even something that accountants are going to be too bothered about. They would be more concerned if the company was expensing capex.

As CCU shareholders, all we should be concerned about is the company bringing in more cash than it spends. Accounting classifications are purely academic ...
