You say that you acknowledge that they are saving you from bankruptcy, but are worried about the terms? The old shareholders haven't a basis for negotiation. You are being tossed a lifeline, but are complaining about the colour of the rope.
Who cares whether they ARE competent to rebuild the company? They are the only option. You can ask about their intentions, but they are not obliged to reply.
