AGL Energy Limited (ASX:AGK) has suspended its northern expansion of the Camden gas project in New South Wales following community concerns.
The gas and electricity company has requested the NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure suspend its assessment of the proposed expansion.
AGL’s Upstream Gas General Manager Mike Moraza says there are some members of the community who are concerned about the current proposal and a suspension will allow the company to consider those concerns.
The proposed Northern Expansion Project has the potential to contribute to the natural gas supply of approximately 580 thousand households in New South Wales.
AGL Energy generated a net profit of $114.9 million in the 2012 financial year.
