some people have nothing better to do than to stalk stocks they used to own.

from an amateur psychology pov i'd say their actions are a form of self assurance, ie checking in on their former investment and patting themselves on the back for selling out before incurring more losses.

secondly they are projecting the hurt they felt from taking a loss by trying to beat up on the formerly owned stock, as if trying to personify it and hack on it to make themselves feel better.
