Of course the merger has .... years ... due to the obvious synergies that a merger between IGR and SLR will achieve.
"It's been a long time coming" is simply stating that finally the obvious merger between neighbours IGR and SLR has taken place.
It DOES NOT mean that what some folks have been posting - with their unsubstantiated conspiracy theories.
