Yes, the Chinese 'Jinchuan Group' is one front runner for a JV partner. If this were to come off then it would give the share price a very nice lift. Panton's selling point is that it gives a JV partner a strategic resource position out of South Africa. As I see it Smokey Hills and then Rooderand are the near term keys to PLA's future, and I strongly believe this is where management's focus is.
I have been told the Rooderand update is due soon. Which, should provide a small upgrade in 'measured' resources - and go some way to sure up the project!
With this renewed talk of JV investment I wonder if anyone knows which Chinese investor(s) were looking to take a significant stake in 2009? I found this in some previous reports and Bell Potter was assisting the company at the time;
'In July 2009 PLA completed a placement of 24,667,171 fully paid ordinary shares at $1.02 for $25,160,516. As part of this placement PLA were to place a further 30,000,000 fully paid ordinary shares at $1.02 to a Chinese investor. As the Chinese investor did not receive its Chinese regulatory approvals in a timely manner, this tranche of the placement did not proceed'.
A missed opportunity!
Does anyone know who in 2009? Any thoughts?
Gus
