just out of curiousity, i had a look to see what effect the A$/$ US change has had.
bid was announced 22 AUg
exchange rate was about A$ = $US 1.04
so 352m shares x $1.48 = A$521m
therefore costs Shell $US542m.
now 352m x $1.52 = A$535m
on 23 Sept (last Friday) A$ = .970516
therefore costs Shell $US519m !!!!!!
so they increase bid in A$ by 4c, and it costs them US$3m LESS ??!!!
