re: be very careful- to toppick
Top-pick, your forgeting one big thing. This company is only 6 months old. This company buys Australian born Barra fingerlings, flys them half way around the world at a rate of 200,000 every 6-7 weeks and grows them out in the USA. Now think about this, how long does it take a Barramundi fingerling (3-5cm long) to grow to a marketable plate size fish? Well surprise surprise 6 months is the average for a fish of about 400-500grams and slightly longer for a fish a bit bigger (perhaps a serving for two). The company already has sold every single fish that has been ready for the market. These fish were the "pilot" fish and a part of the test phase, to fine tune the facility to adapt from some american sea bass previously grown at the facility to the tropical Australian Barramundi. So perhaps the reason that no $$$$ have ever been mentioned is because it's not worth mentioning. 5 tons of "pilot" fish sold to the live asian fish market does not compare with the 300 tons of fish that are now only just ready to be sold. 300tons per annum is only the initial target (which the company has achieved early) with 500tons the full production quota as mentioned in the prospectus. Full production is scheduled for later this year as the grow out tanks are converted and brought up to spec. Remember Australis purchased this 10 year old facility "as is" in June 2004 and had a big expenditure budget on renovations and capital works. A quarterly report should be released to market in the next few days and I do not expect any $$$$ mentioned in the report to be flattering as the serious part of selling and marketing the fish has only just begun.
I hold this stock and will add to my position as frequently as I can because the fun part is only just beginning.
