yeah, you are probably right, monitoring it is going to be a major issue
but on the car importing, I am not sure it is a GST that is applied, I think it is an import tax and a stamp duty and at much higher levels then GST
the tax paid overseas could be claimed back if the authorities here apply a GST at this end, and that would cause the trouble. as for HVN, well. I used to work there, had a franchise and it was a total scary experience to see the way power shifted to the buying committees and the Head office, and away from the guys that generate the income, sadly when I brought this up, I was told I no longer had my franchise. even though I had grown two stores by over 60% and made unprofitable ones profitable within 12 months of taking them over.
they lost many, many more good operators to the GOOD GUYS and other retailers. of the franchisees who were left???
well lets just say I wouldn't even have employed them as salesmen, let alone franchisees.
the rot is from the top, and it is very very sad. I hold shares still, but I can't see any turn around in their future.
tooo many yes men, not enough brave enough to question their decisions cause the axe hanging over those that do is to lose their business.
