The wording of the request for voluntary suspension suggests that this could be a partial sale. It was said at the AGM by the chairman (in response to a question from a s/h) that offers recieved may come in various forms ie; a bid for AMU shares or a bid for the US subsidiary or bids for individual assets or groups of assets.
So, many variables here.
MoFaith if the company was negotiating to sell partial assets i doubt that they would be leaving themselves in the sort of position that you have outlined.
From comments at the meeting it seems that they would like to focus more on the texas oil assets in future so maybe they are looking to sell of some of the gas assets
