This takeover by NCM could get really interesting now.
Any large profitable mines on mainland Australia will be subject to this "resource tax". Not mines off shore.
Does that now make Lihir an even juicier target for NCM. taking some of its revenue off shore?
LGL would probably be trading close to 3.50 without a bid on the table ATM. Price of gold 1180, heightened soverign debt risk, and now LGL to be taxed less than NCM.
Certainly makes LGL more favourable now. IMO
