We all know the oil and gas industry is about ego's as much as anything.
Therefore I am not going to disregard the possibility of a rival bid from WPL. St Michael would thereby really rub Voelte's nose in it, might even get rid of him in the process. Plus really rub Shell up the wrong way, and get redress for past events. Off course WPL could offer script or cash, and it would really set WPL up to outdo both BG and Shell in global LNG.
Just speculation, but really just about anything is possible wrt AOE now. We could even find a couple of big holders with say 10% combined (and NHC isn't everyone) stand up and say they don't intend selling.
