    Hi Arkie,

I had a look at that site and the prices are very high - retail I would expect. We are picking them up sub 5AUD (GF VERS)at the moment and looking to pressure sellers more

Some of the "projects" mentioned are outright scams and anyone investing in them can kiss the money good bye, anyone buying credits from them has wasted their money. I have concerns over a lot of sites like this that legitimise actions that are farcical. This is exactly one reason we need a CPRS or other regulation to deal with the carbon cowboys in Australia. Money men who get into this have no idea about the practicalities and in many cases the process to create a credit, the underlying legal requirements, the interaction of government policy and international accounting. this is no field for amateurs. Get professional advice, unfortunately there are very few out there. Generally the longer a person has been in the game the more informed they are. look at the older companies in Australia, those that grew up with the market. There are some exceptional individuals around but hey are tied up in the big banks and legal firms. I am constantly astounded by the horrendous advice given out by newcomers that read a few documents and think they know enough to give advice, it is a tricky field.

The site is interesting but it does not give any indicaiton of the value of the credits as the accreditaiton is not stated. Oils aint Oils and Carbon aint Carbon, the longer the market runs the more complicated it gets, the more danger in investing and buying.

Perosnaly i think the CCBS are a joke, they add nothing to the project other than a warm and fuzzy feeling. The CCBS board approved a REDD project in Tasmanaia and after reading the docs I was stunned at the content and the assumptions. Never mind that the CCBS does nothing to acutaly create a carbon credit - it is a bit like high octane fuel - sure you can pay for it but are you really going to notice or use the difference in power.
