Someone has to say it ... What a load of crap!
First you incorrectly assume an 80% discount and around that you build a case of 'incompetent management'. When it is pointed out to you that you have misunderstood the announcement and the discount will in fact be UP TO 20% you ask everyone to assume the worst and indicate that 5% would have been preferable.
Sometimes it is better to accept that you have been incorrect and bow out gracefully.
