"Managing director Ken Russell said the technical team had spent considerable time and effort reviewing and attempting to source oil assets for the company, and that the acquisition of Midmar Energy Onshore provided the company with an ideal low-risk entry into oil production at a time when higher oil prices were “seemingly inevitable”.
“From an operational point of view, both of these UK fields are onshore and low cost to operate but importantly have potential upside,” he said.
“They open up further opportunities for the company as an oil field operation, particularly in the UK and into western Europe.”
Subject to conditions, including government approvals and due diligence requirements, the transaction is expected to be completed in 45 days."
i think the bit about opening up further opportunities in the UK and western europe is probably the most important part
