June 19 (Bloomberg) -- Power station coal prices at Australia’s Newcastle port, a benchmark for Asia, fell 7.7 percent, declining for the first time since the week ended May 15.
The index for power-station coal prices at the New South Wales port declined $5.94 to $70.81 in the week to today, according to the globalCOAL NEWC Index.
Xstrata Plc, the world’s largest exporter of power-station coal, BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio Tinto Group are among mining companies that ship coal through Newcastle.
