lumpy earnings

I notice one of ETC's criticisms is "lumpy earnings".

I was a bit wary of another promising company IMF with its "lumpy earnings" when it was recently trading at a p/e of 3-4x, so I "wisely" decided (i thought)at the time not to buy any shares - but I see it's now suddenly trading at a p/e of 10x .

IMF doesn't come close to ETC's growth prospects.

So similarly as long as the profits now start coming through for ETC - it should be just a matter of time.
