"Despite company assurances, workers were worried there would be no money left in 12 months time after Pacific Brands' share price fell from $2 to just 17 cents, he said.
He called on the federal government to introduce a scheme to provide non means-tested assistance for workers who retrain after losing their jobs.
"(The government should) talk to Pacific Brands about giving the $17 million back that was paid to them over the years by the federal government and maybe we could use that money to help these workers in the future," Mr Owen said".
And here I was thinking they were a good buy at these levels - what is their net position, negative $700 million???
