Just in relation to your shorting comments - totally agree.

I understand that shorting is a given, however ppl should keep in mind that since shorting is not provided in real time, it gives an advantage to the shorter that the rest of the markert does not have, i.e. the knowledge that a stock is being shorted and by how much, i.e. # shares short sold.

It is surprising the kinds of excuses given for not having real time shorting info on the ASX (not heard one yet that makes any sense). In any case, a 24 hour delay in short positions is a total joke in this day and age - regardless of how volatile a market is.

Even if the number of short sold shares could not be provided in real time, would it not be equally "informative" to know which shares and what number of shares have been "loaned out" and by which institution? This could be provided to the market place 24 hours before short selling even begins! LOL! That would be something! Imagine the strife!

Back to OKN - the shorts list for 2/02 shows OKN was not shorted yesterday (as far as I can see), which explains a lot about today's (+ve) activity!
