The child care centres won't close - but what makes you think current shareholders will get bailed out? Even if ABC goes bankrupt (which I don't think it will), the centres will be taken over by other operators, and S/H get zilch.
If the govt takes it over, they may simply assume control, give themselves a bunch of equity, and current S/H get diluted by some factor much bigger than 2.
As a holder, I'm keen to see a solution where current S/H don't get shafted.
