Yes it makes for a wonderful story but the reality is even the most marginal of country can produce oil and protein (food), fibre AND carbon credits, just NOT with oil mallees. There are other trees that can be planted to achieve what should be a multiple goal of producing food as well as carbon credits.

For any soil type other than heavy clays, Australian Sandalwood is the most logical crop choice. Why aren't COZ planting sandalwood?
