As a general rule, I always become a little bit hesitant about a company when a new executive appointment has prior links to a current director. Unless it is a situation where both parties are publicly recognisable, I just don't like the idea of 'jobs for the boys'.
Even if it turns out to be a masterstroke, in the long run, I don't think I'll regret holding this opinion (and not just in regard to SYP, might I add).
