Totally agree about the carbon facet. I'm thinking that we soon see a lot of native timber being locked away. If the Garnaut report comes out supporting the idea of ascribing a carbon value to existing timber which he has indicated and the high level delegation who went to PNG recently got some groundwork laid we could see a very different timber market evolve quite quickly. Tim Flannery has been pushing the idea of locking away Sth East Asian forests by using Aust carbon taxes and if it gets off the ground the price of timber must rise due to the addition of this carbon value and the resultant reduction in supply. Then not only will bamboo be sustainable be also a hell of a lot cheaper.

Just hope they can get their house in order and start meeting some targets in the mean time but I like what they are trying to do in getting set for a big push.
