But even if what you say is true, $50 per sq m more than normal glass is only a tiny part of the equation. There are two more layers of normal glass either side. The frames are far more complex for triple glazing (much more than three times as much) than for single thicknesses, on top of which you have the PV, wiring, building wiring and inverters. You can’t get away from the fact that the cost of ordinary commercial triple glazing is $700 to $1,000 per sq. m. Add on the other costs and you’re never going to get a return over twenty years as far as I can see. But let’s see some comprehensive costings.
