Why wait for the Malaysian authorities to approve condisoil. Their bureaucrats cant/wont make a decision. Surely there is a significant palm oil and other agricultural industries in neighbouring countries like Vietnam and Indonesia that could be directly approached with the research carried out and signed up to import it by the shipload as a substitute fertilizer/soil conditioner. Consider NUF & WLP as by- products that are at the core of a new product line for Lynas (or a contractor on their behalf) which is produced on a parcel of land within the Lynas site and is less than 1 Bq when it leaves site and therefore no longer NORM and far less "radioactive" than some of the fertilizer sourced from China.

As for sending WLP back to Australia, i cant see how we would be obliged to accept it given (a) the Basel Convention and (b) it has no resemblance to the concentrate that came from Mt Weld either physically or chemically.

It is Malaysias baby now produced in Malaysia containing elements that were added in Malaysia. When we can send bald Malaysian tyres and waste palm oil back to Malaysia then we could consider such a request but until that time the Australian government should give Yeo's newly formed committee a two word response "...... off!" Or " Tell her she's dreaming."

iIf she cant see the benefit of turning it into a valuable product that has huge commercial potential then why is she the Environment minister.

    end of rant...
